Q Are entrance tests required for everyone?

Entrance tests are required for all NEW students, though tests vary between grades. Applicants to our ESL program often write additional tests.

Q Can I talk to current parents or students?

Several of our past and current parents have volunteered to call, email or meet with potential families about their experience with FIS via the PTA.

Q How long does it take to find out if a student has been accepted?

The entrance test is marked within two days it is finished and depending upon school reports a place can be offered there and then.

Q Is there an age limit at FIS?

Yes. FIS does not register students who are or will be 19 years of age or over in their graduating year. Click Here for more

Q When are applications due?

In general, all applications should be submitted before the end of March of the year of entry. For example, if a student was hoping to begin at FIS in September at the start of the new session, their application should be received before April 1st. It is highly recommended to apply earlier, but there are concessions for later applications.

Q Is there a preference in screening applications?

Pupils who have attended the Funtaj International Primary School will have first preference for places in the Secondary School.

Q Are the teachers qualified and do they have university degrees?

Yes. All of our teaching faculty have university degrees and all hold teaching qualifications. Also, all subjects from JSS1 are taught by subject specialists.

Q How many students are in a class FIS?

There will be no more than 25 in classes and SS1-3 will be considerably smaller depending upon subject choice.

Q What is the school’s approach to discipline?

The school is more interested in helping to change thoughtless or irresponsible behavior than in punishing by suspension or expulsion. There will be severe consequences where warnings go unheeded or where there is a serious breach of school rules. Serious offences include theft, bullying, drugs, smoking and alcohol.

Q What type of student will succeed at FIS?

Our students are committed to academic excellence and community involvement. Passionate leaders, skilled athletes, and innovative entrepreneurs are just some of the diverse types of students who thrive in the challenging FIS environment.

Q What universities will FIS graduates attend?

The vast majority of our graduates attend leading universities within Nigeria, Africa, the US and all over the world.
